I listened to this audio book as was disappointed, the story is poor and to be honest it has far more style than substance, I believe the author spent too much time trying to effect Flemings original style and that the story itself was almost an after-thought.

My name is Peter Grant and until January I was just probationary constable in that mighty army for justice known to all right-thinking people as the Metropolitan Police Service (as the Filth to everybody else). My only concerns in life were how to avoid a transfer to the Case Progression Unit - we do paperwork so real coppers don't have to - and finding a way to climb into the panties of the outrageously perky WPC Leslie May.

The Rivers of London is an all round great audiobook; the story is well written with humour permeating a fascinating and unique plot line, while the narration is charismatic and perfectly suited to the story. I have listened to hundreds of audio books over the last few years and I have to say this is up there with the best. I for one can’t wait for new offerings from Aaronovitch and Holdbrook – Smith!

I have listened to many many audio books and this was the longest and best of the lot. I do not understand some of the other reviews as i found both the story and the narration faultless. I really cannot emphasise enough how much i enjoyed this book, nor how much I recommend others to listen to it.

This audio book is really good - as the first review suggested it can take a little while to get into but it?s well worth the effort! Just waiting for the final unabridged book in the trilogy now!

I really enjoyed this audio book and I'm not really a fan of the Genre. It takes a little while to warm to the story but stick at it as very soon you'll be enthralled. The second book is possibly even better, and I?m really looking forward to when audible to have the 3rd unabridged book in the trilogy.

Set before and during the Great War, Birdsong captures the drama of that era on both a national and a personal scale. It is the story of Stephen, a young Englishman, who arrives in Amiens in 1910. His life goes through a series of traumatic experiences, from the clandestine love affair that tears apart the family with whom he lives to the unprecedented experience of the war itself.

This is a beautiful book. The story is simple but haunting while the writers skill and devotion to his craft is evident in every sentence and phrase. I did not think this was 'my kind of book' - I was wrong.

This is really a great audio book. The story is really enthralling and the narration is the best I come across. I've listened to hundreds of audio books over the years and I must say that this is one of the best. I'd never come across Phil Rickman before and I just thought I'd take a chance on it, I am certainly glad I did.
