"fifty shades of grey part 1"
I have read this book before, enjoyed it so thought is try listening to it, fantastic although the narrator could be a bit better. I got lost in the book, loved it
"Dreadful narration"
My title says it all, with all the great voices out there where on earth did they find Ms Battoe??
Her voice drones on and on, she doesn't give any characterisation to her voices - she needs to go back to school to learn how to read aloud - I've 7 year olds in my class that read better than she does.
It's a shame.
"Men can read this."
It is a basic love story and I must admit that the sex gets a bit boring after a while and Anna steal need to more confidence in her own ability.
"Excellent"
I really enjoyed the narration. It puts a different perspective on the story. Really worth a listen.
"Heart racing fun"
I have all the 50 shades collection in paperback and have read them many times over. But its not always practical to read them everywhere. This version of the first book is great, the way its read still makes me feel im right next to Ana seeing everything through her eyes. Plus I can listen whilst im at the gym or power walking! Im going on a long haul flight soon and can't wait to download another for me to listen to!
"review"
it was great, until christian grey's dialogues came :\. Voice was ok, a little 'cold' at times.
"Amazing!"
This book is simply mindblowing. I have spent 7 hours listning to this book thanks to becca battoe. When i first bought it, i had very low expectations for it and didn't think it would be your average romance book where some girl falls in love with a guy and they live happily ever after, it's verey different. this deserves a 5-star rating!
"Funny but for the wrong reasons"
I felt that the reading of this just highlighted the poorness of the writing itself. The narrator has a very dull, slow voice, and I do not think it made the book exciting enough. I found myself laughing at the characters even more than I did when I read the book - Battoe's voice for Christian is especially hilarious. I would recommend reading the book yourself so you can put your own voices in for the characters, which makes them much more likable, rather than listening to Battoe. Still, very entertaining.
"Great"
I have read the book many times and am now listening to the audio book. I have bought them in audio to listen to in the car, whilst doing chores when i am not in the mood for music and they are so far working out great!
"DIRE!"
Well, I gave in.
Sick of the hype and the 'you haven't read it?' shock horror, from my women friends, I decided to give E.L. James cash-cow a shot. How bad could it be?
Hmmm. Well. if you take the irritating, mid-atlantic, breathy, twangy narrator out of it, what's left? Not a whole lot I'm afraid.
Boring - the sex.
Tedious - the 'plot' (?)
Cringeworthy - the writing.
Vacuous - the narrator.
A TOTAL waste of my money, and a pain in the (r)ears!
