    "Excellent book"

I decided to give this a try after the release of the film. I was a bit skeptical thinking that perhaps it was aimed at teenage girls based on the film promotion but came in with an open mind and was very pleased I did. The story is very well written and you actually begin to care about the characters. The narration was also very good and helped to tell the story.

    "Brilliant Audio Book, Fantastic Story!"

Both my husband and I love The Hunger Games Trilogy so we leaped at the chance for the audio book. We have read all the books, watched the first film and now started on the audio books. We can't get enough of this brilliant trilogy, the best we have come across in a long time.

We'll start by saying this is suitable for teenagers and above, adults will love it just as much. The first book is fantastic and the narrator has done a brilliant job. Its a joy to listen too and easy to listen, before you know it hours will of passed. We feel seeing the first film has helped, when listening to this book its so much easier to picture everything in your head. I'd say it made our enjoyment of this book even better. It was also nice to read or listen to the book as it covers more than the film. So I'd you have watched the film then you'll love listening to this.

A brilliant story that keeps you gripped from beginning to end. Once you finish this book you'll want to go straight onto the next. Highly recommended, very enjoyable and I know this will be an audio book listened to often and definitely as one of our favorites.

    "amazing read"

I really enjoy Young Adults' novels and this one is one of the best I have ever read. It's a good introduction to the whole trilogy and makes you want more of it. The story is not sweet nor happy, rather tragic and makes one think a lot about what happens in a country under totalitarian rule, where you can't trust anyone. The characters are complex and the whole plot is very dynamic. The story progresses and unfolds into different "dimensions" , constantly showing characters from a slightly different angle. Sorry for not giving the plot away, this book made such an impression on me that I couldn't read anything for over a month, as I kept thinking about it and its protagonists, because while reading they suddenly became very real ...

    "Remarkable and Unexpected"

I was knocked out by this book and I wasn't expecting to be so impressed. I am a 41 year old father of two - not the target audience at all - and I loved it. The book is written in the first person, present tense which is not to my normal taste. But for this book and the experiences it portrays, this is perfect. The present tense brings an immediacy to the narrative. A fantastic book.

    "You're not in Kansas Anymore"

Suzanne Collins' violent dystopian adventure is the tale of a teenage girl who is forced to turn her talents as a hunter to a more sinister purpose when she is forced to take part in the Hunger Games, a brutal blood sport where children hunt other children. Subsequently, the novel is often cruel and some of key themes are distinctly adult in nature. Nevertheless, the novel explores some important topics, some particularly important to younger readers such as loyalty, love, and the importance of human life.

There is something very plausible about The Hunger Games and there are some disquieting similarities with the real world; specifically, our fascination with reality TV and the suffering of others. The novel is an uncomfortable read at times but it is one whose story is compelling and well written, and is not one that I am likely to forget.

The Hunger Games is certainly a novel that will be enjoyed by teenagers and adults alike but it is definitely not one that I would choose for a bedtime story.

    "Marvellous"

I read the book a while go and after watching the film again decided to go back and get the audio books. I found the books as good the second time round, if you haven't read them at all obviously I would recommend getting them as they are a really good story. As with many films its so much better in the book.

    "Very thought provoking"

A surprisingly good read, with much more depth than expected. The characters are very real, as are the problems they have. The rich exploit the poor, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer - some very true to life problems. The Games themselves really draw you in and I found myself unable to put the book down.

This seems such an unlikely story and likely to be full of hideous gore and stomach turning scariness that I didn't expect to like it (being a wimp at heart) but it is so well written (and read) that somehow one is carried along by the story and can cope with the macabre subject of killing off all but one child.

    Excellent story and much recommended

"Every type of person I know has enjoyed this book."

The most listened too audiobook on my Ipod by far. I had read the book at least four times already and it was taking up too much concentration away from eating/washing/revising/going outside (It helps you can multitask with audiobooks). I think this was the free audiobook I chose when i signed up to audible and it sold it for me, now I can't leave. I took a while to get used to the narrator but in no way did this diminish the emotional impact of the story. Every time I hear it by the end of the first chapter I know I'm going to have to listen too the whole trilogy again. perfect story to put on on long car journeys with family, Perfect to listen to on walks.Perfect for huddling up on the sofa and hissing at anyone who tries to talk to you because you don't want to miss a second. If you want to get emotionally involved with amazing characters in a terrifying version of our world, seriously, pick this one!
