"nombrilisme"
Not for me, but maybe I'm not an autobiography type of guy. Apparently it was popular, so well and good.
"Fry at his best!!"
An excellent book, expertly read by the man himself. A very funny and enthralling book, a must buy.
"The Fry Chronicles"
SF reads his autobiography really well. He is fantastic at other voices and accents. Made the listening very enjoyable. Superb with words. The books ends making you want more ... so I wait. Thank you Mr Fry.
"Stephen Fry reading his own book? Yes please!"
You honestly can't get a better reading voice than Stephen Fry, and for him to be reading his own book is just bliss
Every nuance of his reading is SUPERB, and it goes from a brilliant book to an amazing audio book
If you don't have this book in your library then you are SERIOUSLY missing out - this is a "can't miss" book!
"Some laugh out loud moments to be had"
Stephen Fry demonstrates an original sense of humour here and has edited the autobiography for the audible audience. His self-deprecating style and eloquence suit the more intellectual audience and his inclusion of well-known British celebrities makes for more entertaining anecdotes. Well-narrated and interesting.
"Loved it"
I am in love with Stephen Fry even more after to listening to this book. I did try to read Moab a few years ago and just could'nt get it, he went on about grammer and other rubbish that did'nt make sense, whereas this book is brilliant and he just talks about his life and friends. Really great listen.
"Stephen Fry at his best"
I loved, loved this book. I am a big fan of Stephen Fry and it was great to hear a part of his life story (the first part can be found in Moab is my washpot). He tells everything honestly and it is nice to know that one of the most succesful persons of Britain feels so down in the dumps sometimes.
The book is narrated by the author himself, which is always great but especially enjoyable with the warm voice of Stephen. I can't wait for the next part!
"Hard to put down"
I only know the latter-day Stephen Fry, not being familiar with his earlier career. This book is read by Stephen which makes any autobiography a great story to listen to. It's written with honesty, feeling, much humor, and the narration is superb. I liked Stephen before, after listening to his story, I have a much deeper feeling for the man. You will like this book!
"Bored"
Stephen has had a very interesting life and also has the most amazing reading voice and so I expected great things here. And yes he reads beautifully. The warning sign for me came early on when Stephen said (I'm paraphrasing here), 'I like words, the longer the better and I like to weave them into long sentances. I'm too old to change it'. What can be said in once short sentance, Fry takes two long winded paragraphs and some to describe- from sweetie wrappers to ....well I 'm sure the inside of a ping pong ball is there somewhere. Almost fell asleep whilst I was driving it was so very boring. Sorry :-(
"WONDERFUL"
Just an excellant "read", made all the better for the author actually presenting the book.
