  • "The confidence of youth."

    Overall

This book tells of the young Mark Pfetzer and his attempts to climb Mount Everest at the age of only 16 years. The description of his preparation and climbs are well written and very informative to the reader. What is most impressive about this book is the self belief and dedication that this young climber has. Its well worth a read.

In May 1996 the media scrambled to document the gripping story of 16-year-old Mark Pfetzer's expedition to Mount Everest. Not only was he the youngest climber ever to attempt the summit, he also witnessed the tragedy documented in Jon Krakauer's Into Thin Air, in which eight climbers perished in a sudden storm. Within Reach is Mark's extraordinary account of this experience and of his triumphs over several other challenging peaks

    Story

This is the true story of a cat bringing purpose and structure to one man's life whilst touching a whole community. For those of us who have never sold the big issue it also gives an education of how and why this is a wonderful chance for a return to self worth but has limitations for those with out good levels of intelligence and organizational ability. It would be a hard person who is not challenged about how we treat those at the bottom of the financial heap
This all sounds rather worth and dry but it is an enjoyable story which is unforgetable

Each poem is accompanied by an addendum that further explains the factual circumstances of that poem's subject.

Peter Stuyvesant: legends abound about the character, temperament, and wooden leg of the last director-general of New Amsterdam, fueled primarily by Washington Irving's satirical A History of New York. Krizner and Sita set the record straight here and address other misconceptions about the early days of the colony. Indeed, historical evidence does not support the legend of the 24-dollar purchase of Manhattan Island. Stuyvesant did, however, rule with an "iron fist", but he loved New Amsterdam.
