    This book is now my favourite and I'm trying to get more people to read it.



    It's so beautifully written I've not got caught up in a book so well as this one. Not since I was young.



    I passed this book over a few times as the description makes it appear as though the main character is an arrogant show off, but it's really not like that at all.



    The main character is highly interesting and quite unlike what you'd expect. He really is a deeply thoughtful person, neither selfish nor selfless and very fallible.



    Also all the side characters are well fleshed out, and interesting in their own separate way. Enigmatic, charming, genius and crazy sometimes all at once.



    The story is told in the first person, recounting the events of his life, dipping in and out of the past and present over the course of the book. Each book represents a day of his telling.



    The pace of the story is neither fast or slow. You enjoy the journey without feeling rushed or dawdling along like other novels, going over every tiny detail.



    The magic in this book is quite unique and seems to share some ideas from quantum theory and even thermodynamics!



    The narration of this book was perfect. The narrator transports you along and holds your attention throughout.



    In conclusion if you read/listen to only one fantasy novel this year I can't recommend this book enough. It was a genuine pleasure to read.
