OKSo great to find another Bartimaeus book - the character is just so likeable! This story is set many years before the events of the original trilogy, looking back on some of Bartimaeus's adventures with King Solomon, which he so often referred to in the other books. Very enjoyable. The reading performance is good too, though I listened to this very shortly after the other trilogy (which was read by a different narrator) so I found it a bit difficult to adjust to the new interpretation.
This is a great reading of this book (which I have read a number of times before). Steven Pacey hits just the right note in his delivery of the characters, especially Bartimaeus, and slips between the various narrative styles seamlessly. I downloaded the other two in the series as well based on this and was not disappointed there either. I would certainly recommend this title.
All the Artemis Fowl books are enjoyable stories and this one is certainly no exception in that sense. It's a bittersweet read though, since it is the final installment in the series. Nathaniel Parker deilvers another great performance - his reading style is flowing and easy to listen to and his interpretations of the characters are sensible, organic and very well done.
