    I listened to this book as I commuted to and from work and it was like driving about with an old friend. I no longer cared about traffic jams or slow journeys as I laughed and cried at the very honest and entertaining accounts of Michaels life. His voice is naturally soothing and his life experiences are fascinating. I feel like I met some of the fabulous stars of old Hollywood, or that I had spent some great nights in the pub with him, laughing along with his "behind the scenes" stories. When the book ended, I felt a sense of bereavement. If you read this Michael, I wouldn't mind an invitation to your next Sunday lunch party thanks.

I listened to it twice and the second time, I picked up a lot of the detail I lost in the first reading. David speaks beautifully and his charm exudes throughout. A book I will surely enjoy listening to again. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book!

    If you like Stephen Fry (and who doesn't) you'll like this auto-biographical account of Stephen's early years. It's an honest tale of childhood and teenage memories and Stephen talks openly about his upbringing and misconducts in a way that you don't expect to hear from such a public figure. And you can't help but respect him the more for it.
    I looked forward to my commute each day simply to hear the next instalment of this clearly narrated book.

    This book is also a tale of how, with enough determination, it is possible to turn your life around.

    Raised on Charles Baudelaire, A Clockwork Orange, and fine Bordeaux in 1970s Lebanon, Darina Al-Joundi was encouraged by her unconventional father to defy all taboos. As the bombs fell, she lived an adolescence of excess and transgression, defying death in nightclubs. The more oppressive the country became, the more drugs and anonymous sex she had, fueling the resentment by day of the same men who would spend the night with her. As the war dies down, she begins to incur the consequences of her lifestyle. On his deathbed, her father's last wish is for his favorite song, "Sinnerman" by Nina Simone, to be played at his funeral.
