As a teenager in the fifties I heard the original broadcast; the following day at school my friends and I could talk of little else; our excitement at this magical experience of this new work was palpable. The book became - and remains - a treasured possession and I have heard and seen other productions. Investing in the Audible version so long after I wondered how my experience would stand up to my memories. All I can say is that the original excitement returned and the shivers remained...

Under Milk Wood is Dylan Thomas's undisputed and unforgettable masterpiece - an affectionate, but hilarious portrait of a small Welsh town. The classic 1954 recording, featuring a perfect cast led by Richard Burton as "First Voice", is rightly considered to be definitive. This collection also includes two earlier radio programs: Return Journey to Swansea and Quite Early One Morning, read by Dylan Thomas and others.

One of my earliest Audible purchases and still among the most memorable. I often return to dip into the novels again. A beautiful production catching the humour, drama and poignancy of Thackery. The quality of the acting is superb and an excellent way to enter the span of this classic sequence. Do not hesitate to enjoy this production whether you are already a lover of the major nineteenth century novels or a newcomer to this world.

I love biographies but some can be just self indulgent me me me! This however is a really, really good read. You don't have to be a Duran Duran fan to enjoy this book. It is an honest account of becoming a 'popstar' and all the stuff that comes with it , some good, some not so good.

The story really flows and was beautifully read by the author himself. He had an excellent way of changing his voice just slightly to become his Dad, his Mum, Simon "Charlie" Le Bon, in fact all the characters in the book. Cleverly done. I hope this isn't a one-off. He has the talent for writing. Fiction next time ? Looking forward to it !

Accompanies BBC2's major new TV series and The Story of Music in 50 Pieces on Radio 3. Music is an intrinsic part of everyday life, and yet the history of its development from single notes to multi-layered orchestration can seem bewilderingly specialised and complex. In his dynamic tour through 40,000 years of music, from prehistoric instruments to modern-day pop, Howard Goodall does away with stuffy biographies, unhelpful labels and tired terminology.

Wordsworth's The Prelude is the consummation of his achievement as the great founder of English romanticism. An autobiography in verse, it tells of his childhood in the Lake District, his student days in Cambridge, his passion for the French Revolution and his later disenchantment with it. It also tells of his personal journey to a belief in Nature as the great moral and spiritual force which shapes human life, but on which human society all too often turns its back.
