The Time Traveler's Wife is now a Hollywood feature film.

Shortlisted for Audible's Listen of the Year, 2006.
Winner of the British Book Awards, Popular Fiction Award, 2006.
A Richard and Judy Book Club Selection.

This extraordinary, magical novel is the story of Clare and Henry who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36, and were married when Clare was 22 and Henry 30. Impossible but true, because Henry has Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity in his past, present, and future. The Time Traveller's Wife depicts the effects of time travel on Henry and Clare's marriage and their passionate love for each other.

Critics Reviews

A Richard and Judy Book Club selection.

"Highly original first novel...Niffenegger has written a soaring love story illuminated by dozens of finely observed details and scenes...It is a fair tribute to her skill and sensibility to say that the book leaves a reader with the impression of life's riches and strangeness rather than of easy thrills." This has got to be THE most fantastic book I have ever read. I have recommended it to anyone I have spoken to. It is in essence a love story, but with a fantastic twists and turns, and you do end up believing in Henry's disorder. It takes a little getting used to, Henry's changing age, but when you get past that ... FANTASTIC!!!!

I have had this book for some time and attempted three times to get into it but it wasn't till I went on holiday last week without any other book to listen to that I really had no choice and decided to persevere and I am really glad that I did. The narration is excellent, and I ended up both laughing and crying in parts. The story itself is bonkers and was very confusing a lot of the time but I did end up thoroughly enjoying it even though I feel there were a lot of unanswered questions... but this is fiction after all.

This was one of the first audio books I downloaded - and it was an amazing baptism into audio books. The multiple narrators made the story so easy to follow (you would think it could be difficult). I was so excited by the book I couldn't wait for the film - but was sooo disappointed when I saw the film, just not a patch on the book - so often the case.

Probably the best book I have 'read' in an age. Certainly a fantastic love story, right up there with The Notebook.
